The Google Nexus One : A Short Guide
Pretty much everyone who has bought themselves a Google Nexus One has been impressed with their new purchase. Why? Well, these are some of the reasons for its popularity…
Design – One of the first things you will notice on this terrific device is a large screen displayed prominently on the front. The phone is also quite thin, making for an unobtrusive little device. It is even thinner than an iPhone 3G. The sturdy weight provides a sense of high quality and durability.
Speed – Featuring the 1 GHZ Snapdragon processor, which is the best of its kind, the Nexus One transitions between pages without a problem. Orientation switches are smooth and videos and games are played without any difficulty.
Homescreen – Google has completely revamped the homescreen experience with its latest offering. It features five panes, updated widgets and a fast, common sense based navigation system. You can, for example, get news and weather updates, update your Facebook status, and play music all from your homescreen.
Camera – The incorporated 5 megapixel camera is really cool and takes great full color pictures. It has a powerful LED flash and a user-interface that allows you to easily fine tune your picture taking. The video camera can capture video up to 30 fps and is a joy to use.
Display – The touch screen found on the Nexus One is one of the best of its kind. Surfing the net, watching videos, and playing games has never looked better than on the Nexus One’s 3.7” AMOLED screen. The screen’s size also allows for fast, easy typing without all of the typos.
Voice Input – A speech-to-text option is standard with Android 2.1 smartphone. So, anywhere you can type on the phone, you can also enter data verbally too. You will be pleased to hear that this feature is very accurate. It really takes the hassle out of sending text messages.
Making Calls – It is often easy to forget that today’s cell phones are just that – phones – because they do so much more than simply make calls, so it is worth pointing out that the Nexus One is great to actually talk on. The main reason for this is that Google have incorporated two microphones into the phone – one for talking and one for noise cancellation.
So, if you are looking to buy a new cell phone then you could do a lot worse than the Google Nexus One. In fact, it would actually be incredibly difficult to find anything better. Arguably, this is the best there is!
